Hey all - I just moved to Arlington from NY. I'm a web designer and part-owner of a firm up north. My question is if your meetings are open or is there a more ummm like official membership thing going? Let me know, I'd definitely like to get involved and join the discussion. I'm heavy in Flash scripting and work with CSS and standards a lot too.

    TonyBalls,

Welcome to DC! You'll find there is a pretty strong community here and everything is open; especially Refresh-DC. Come on out; we always go to a local bar afterwards and that is a pretty good place to meet with people as well and keep the discussion going.

Tony, I'll be more than happy to collect your 'membership dues' -- even though there are none :-D

    Welcome to area!

I moved to Arlington from NY a few years ago, if you ever want to chat about potential adjustment strategies just let me know ;-) Refresh is one event that'll make you feel like you're right at home.

Hah, thanks for the responses - however I don't think I've been sufficiently convinced to send in membership dues anytime soon...

I actually missed the Motley Fool meetup due to a last second trip up north, but I'm sure to be there next time. Enjoyed the slides and links though.

Will - my firm is actually in Albany as thats where we started the business 4 years ago (MUCH cheaper commercial $$$/sq. foot than NYC when you're starting off) but I originate from Poughkeepsie, frequented the city growing up, and we do maintain clients from the area as well. Still I'll have to catch up with you at the next meeting, I'm curious to hear what you think the big differences are after being in both locations.
