I asked this question at the last meeting, but no one really spoke up. I find it hard to believe in a group the size of ours no one's launched anything recently, so let's have it.
What have you (or your company) launched recently?
We have launched a SharePoint 2007 community at www.thesug.org - this is running on SharePoint 2007 and it allows users to discuss topics, read blogs from SharePoint experts, and gain a better understanding of SharePoint terminology through the MOSSASAURUS. Check it out. :)
HotPads.com has just launched its homes for-sale portal. Initially launched as rental housing search engine, HotPads now has over 200,000 active listings for homes on the market across the U.S. HotPads now has a more robust database of housing options and is opening up it's revenue platform for advertisers. Check it out at www.hotpads.com.
We just launched an alpha version of our website, www.ezclopedia.com. Ezclopedia is a website that aims to provide a better alternative for qualified individuals to share their knowledge and get the appreciations and recognitions they deserve for their sincere, knowledgeable efforts. In Ezclopedia, thousands authors collaborate to build an online knowledge gateway by contributing millions articles that are not limited to only encyclopedia articles. However, only 1 - 5 author(s) will work together in writing each article. Ezclopedia's algorithm tracks the percentage of contribution of each author of an article and distributes the shared advertising revenue generated by the article to the authors based on their contributions.
We hope we can provide a better alternative to Wikipedia. Please check it out at http://www.ezclopedia.com and give us your feedback.
I am a small one person self funded startup and recently launched the alpha for my site www.mydropbin.com.
MyDropBin utilizes Amazon's S3 storage to allow users to save whatever they want to, anything from a text clipping to a Flickr image to an important document, and then access it from anywhere they have an internet connection. Best of all, you only pay for the storage you use. Need to store huge files, no problem, your storage bucket expands as you need it. Use your Drop Bin to store and even share your documents, pictures, presentations .....
MyDropBin is a work in progress. The first phase which this service represents right now will allow you to sign in and upload files from your desktop. You can place the files into folders you create and also tag them for even more granularity in your organization. You can also email the links to files in your drop bin to friends for them to download and check out as well. If you look below and cycle through the links you will see where the next phase is headed. Soon I hope to have an integrated experience allowing you to not only save local content, but also content you come across on the web for a more dynamic experience.
