I’ve been using Dreamweaver (DW) as my preferred code program for several years now. With features like code hints and snippets, I’ve learned how to minimize redundancy (snippets) and optimize my time by using short-hand with code hints.

There seems to be a growing number of people that are using Textmate because it’s lightweight (unlike DW) and it has similar features to DW.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a code hints similar to DW within Textmate?

And are there any other reasons that would wow me into using this app?

    Donkey Shay,

    hey nick,
i love textmate and it does fill out code if you're quick with hotkeys and learn about their bundles. for example, they have one for jquery that fills out code for you but it takes some getting used to. but i know what you're talking about though, how DW just throws in suggestions, which is really handy. so for writing CSS i've recently started using CSSEdit which does a great job of suggesting hints.

another thing i like about textmate is its ability to open up multiple files or even whole folders so you can see what files you're editing and even do find and replaces easily. i also felt like after leaving DW i was working faster in textmate because i was forced to write things by hand, learn shortcuts, and its really lightweight (if you have memory issues like i did).

    Hi Nick,

I used to be on DW but recently moved onto Textmate, I feel I am faster on it, probably because I can focus on the code better , I think it's also about fonts they use.. otherwise it does not provide any suggestions (pretty much what Keith wrote).. I haven't played with CSS edit much, but had tried it a little bit and really liked it.

    Cheers
    AJ
