A friend of mine just asked me if you can have a podcast with different "tracks" in it--like in a CD so the listener can go right to certain points.

I don't think I've ever seen this done. That, of course, doesn't mean it can't be done.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

You would need an audio codec and a player that supported multiple tracks. I am not aware of either.

As far as podcasting goes, you can send any type of file you would like, it's just a matter of the listeners aggregator/player/device being able to support the file.

Why not send an ISO of an audio CD with multiple tracks? :)

Apple's AAC format supports chapters, but is only playable in iTunes (as far as I know).

Hooray! (editor's note: I link-ified those two links from Jeremy's post)

    Awesome. Thanks.

The fact that it only works with iPods and iTunes would explain why I haven't come across it before. I don't do those i-things. :)
